Not only do I love the cartoon, I also love the addition of commentary, which is one of the many many great things about your book too (buy it if you haven't already, it's more than worth it). Not only do we get the humor, the bite, the wit, we also get to peek inside your minds.

And let me add my voice to Chrees's in lauding you for taking the "cowboy" sneer and turning it on those who wish us ill.

I'm PROUD to have the "cowboy spirit" and I'm immensely grateful that we have a President who is filled to the brim with it too. It's that "take no prisoners", "no nonsense", "good horse sense", "can-do"-attitude that built this nation and made it the greatest in the world and we're RIGHT to celebrate it!

And that's the reason that I find it the height of hysterical irony when our enemies think that they can "insult" us with it.

I really have enjoyed looking through this sight since I discovered it today. The anti-americanism and the constant bashing of our ideals and our President, in this country and around the world, send me from anger to upset tummy to laughter.

Now, how about one about Ted Kennedy's latest hand-wringing speech on the floor of the Senate. Of course, Mr. Kennedy showed the world his lack of integrity and courage in the face of personal danger many years ago when he allowed a young girl to drown because the peril to his prestige required lawyers and spin-doctors. That this has translated itself into cowardice during a national crisis ought to surprise no one.

Well, I've said that the people who hate George W Bush and those who love him do so for the same reason: Because he's such a cowboy!

But it's a case of viewing the same thing from different perspectives.

A socialist would see a cowboy as a dangerous, violent person with an antisocial attitude towards the government and laws.

A libertarian or objectivist would see a cowboy as a self-starting, enterprising, intuitive and honest citizen.

Walter Russel Mead's Special Providence is a great book on American foreign policy. It clearly explains our foreign policy and why Europeans think of us as reckless cowboys.

It may be impossible for anybody who doesn't have a multi-generational history in the Western states to understand those of us who do (California doesn't count). Of course we are self-reliant! Who else was there to rely on when your nearest neighbor may be miles away? Who else is going to solve your problems? The government? Wasn't any 911 to call when trouble showed up on your doorstep. You took care of you and yours because it was your own responsibility. That's what folks east of the Mizzippi never understood, and still don't. It is also what the Libs hate about cowboys -- they don't need gov-mint help, don't want it and would prefer it just stayed out of the way.
